Some people claim that Woodsafe® WFX™ is dangerous. Is that true?
No, that's not true. The claim may be based on formaldehyde content, but free formaldehyde is found only in the working solution, not in the finished product.
Can Woodsafe® be used in eco-labeled buildings?
Yes, the product has been assessed under several different environmental assessment systems, including the Building Materials Assessment.
Can I treat Woodsafe® with silicon-based products such as Sioox and Organowood?
You can treat the wood, but results may vary. The process involved in silicon treatment is not always compatible with Woodsafe® fire-retardant wood.
Is Woodsafe® natural and organic?
No. Organic marketing has no connection to fire retardant treatment.
How do I handle notches and drilling holes?
No special action is required. The product is impregnated, and a cut surface does not affect its overall fire-resistant properties.
Can I paint the wood paneling with any color?
No, please refer to the separate instructions for painting Woodsafe® PRO™.
Please note that Woodsafe® WFX™ is designed not to be painted but can be stained using a specially developed staining system; however, Woodsafe® WFX™ should not be overpainted.
Is this product dangerous for my employees to handle?
No, Woodsafe®-treated wood is not classified as hazardous to health or the environment.
However, we recommend that staff use standard protective equipment for woodworking, such as respiratory protection when sanding, safety goggles when there is a risk of splinters, gloves to protect against abrasions and splinters, and so on.
Some companies claim that their product is fully impregnated. What does that mean?
First and foremost, you must understand that only a few types of wood can be thoroughly impregnated. Woods such as spruce, larch, oak, cedar, and others cannot be thoroughly impregnated, which means that such claims are incorrect.
“Through-impregnation” itself is an outdated term originating from Danish material requirements, but it has no practical significance under current regulations.
Are the manufacturing process and the product certified?
Yes, our products have been type-approved and CE-marked since 2008 and 2009. Manufacturing is subject to production control by RISE (0402).
